The Austin area has gained several new dining options in the past week and is expected to welcome more. Community members can check out new barbecue spots and taco eateries, and look forward to a hot chicken restaurant.

1. Churchrow Tejas BBQ

Simon Madera, the brain behind La Holly and Taco Flats, has brought Churchrow Tejas BBQ to Austin. The restaurant moved into the space previously occupied by Black Gold Craft Meats & Cocktails. The concept is led by pitmaster Miguel Vidal and showcases barbecue with a Tejano twist, highlighting Madera and Vidal’s heritage.

2. Pizza Hut

The pizza chain held a grand opening for the new location Oct. 21. The restaurant, founded in 1958, is the largest pizza chain in the world, with nearly 20,000 locations around the globe.

3. Taquería de Diez


The taco eatery was founded by brothers Raul and Luis Esquer and serves tacos, quesadillas, burritos, volcanes and desserts. Specific menu items include a carne asada burrito, a grilled cactus quesadilla and pork tacos.

The business operates an open kitchen dining style where patrons can watch their food be prepared.

4. The Dugout Gametime Grill

The sports bar and restaurant offers burgers, wings, pizza, salads, dessert options, and a wide range of craft beer.

5. Shokunin

A new sushi bar from Chef Phillip Frankland Lee and Executive Pastry Chef Margarita Kallas-Lee opened next door to NADC Burger.Coming soon


6. Hattie B’s Hot Chicken

The Nashville-based chicken restaurant is opening its second Austin location at Domain Northside this November. The new location will offer menu items such as The Classic Chicken Sandwich, The Jumbo Tenders Plate, The Half Bird Plate, Dirty Bird Fries and Fight or Flight, a hot chicken sampler.

Additionally, Hattie B's has partnered with Dell Children's Foundation to donate $1 from every order of chicken at the hottest heat level, dubbed "Shut the Cluck Up!" on the menu.
