Dog Day Coffee is relocating and expects to open beneath the Marq on Burnet apartment complex by the end of August.

The gist

Owners Mark Tovar and Erika Luck officially opened Dog Day Coffee in June 2021, first serving customers at farmer’s markets. By August 2021, the coffee shop started sharing a space at 8440 Burnet Road with Nosh and Bevvy, a British-style pub that typically opens at 4 p.m., allowing for Dog Day to operate during the morning and early afternoon.

What’s on the menu

Dog Day Coffee specializes in nitro coffee, a caffeinated drink infused with nitrogen gas, which creates a foamy top layer. Luck said their signature drink is the Dirty Earl—their variation of a London fog—with nitro cold brew, nitro earl grey tea, oat milk and simple syrup.

The shop also offers customers:
  • Nitro flights
  • Espresso drinks
  • Chai and taro lattes
  • Different flavored muffins, scones and breads
“All the stuff you can do with craft beer, we’re like, ‘Why can’t we do that?’” Luck said.

Tovar and Luck are planning to open Aug. 31 after Dog Day Coffee’s new location recently passed its health inspection, Luck said.
