The Greater Austin area and beyond has seen a large growth in coffee-related businesses sprouting since May. Community members can check out a range of locally-owned, specialty shops and await the arrival of more options to come. This list is not comprehensive.

Austin

Black Rock Coffee Bar

Customers can enjoy coffee classics, coffee-less drinks, chillers, frozen coffee and locally-made pastries and breakfast items, as stated on the business’s website. Favorite drinks include Mexican Mocha which features hints of vanilla, almond and cinnamon and Irish Coffee which is an Irish Cream Breve.

Cafe Java


The shop offers a wide selection of signature drinks, both hot and cold, including unique creations like the Fruit Loops Matcha Latte and the Peachy Keen Milkshake. In addition to drinks, Cafe Java has a large menu of breakfast foods, including omelettes, breakfast tacos, sandwiches and French toast.

Dam Coffee Bar

Owned by Anh Bao, the new Vietnamese coffee shop features options such as espresso, phin and matcha. With family still living in Vietnam, Bao said he has personal connections in the coffee industry which are helping fuel the authentic taste of Vietnamese coffee he hopes to bring to the area.

Fortune Teller


South Austin residents have a new neighborhood spot to gather, get coffee and sip cocktails on South Congress Avenue. Business owner Thomas Bailey has transformed what was previously an open lot with a pavilion and food trucks into an all-day-and-night gathering spot.

Godsent Coffee

The menu features classic coffee drinks such as espressos, Americanos, cappuccinos and flat whites; tea-based lattes; strawberry matcha and regular matcha drinks; and more.

Lau Lau

The family-run business is named after a Chinese family and is owned by long-time service industry workers including Hannah Foy. In addition to classic coffee drinks, customers can order specialty items including Fish Sauce Caramel Latte, Chinese Five Spice Cortado and Foy’s Old Fashioned Latte.

Luanne’s Coffee & Matcha

Co-owned by Paige Riojas and Vanessa Garcia, the mobile drink cart serves iced and hot espresso and matcha beverages. The business is known for its honey cornbread latte with matcha, corn soy milk, honey vanilla syrup and a cream top. Other specialty drinks include the banana bread latte and blue coconut matcha latte.

Mazúr Coffee & Boutique

The business is owned by Marissa Mazúr and offers traditional coffee items, specialty coffee, matcha, tea and baked goods. While customers enjoy their drink or treat, they can browse the boutique’s many selections featuring custom candles, jewelry, tops, bottoms, jackets, dresses and more.

Mù Coffee

Founded by The University of Texas at Austin alumni Genny and Juan Acosta-Li, the coffee business features unique drinks such as the Osmanthus Latte, Barley Cold Brew, Five Spice Mocha and Jasmine Matcha. The business is serving coffee with Chinese-inspired flavors at The Cauldron in West Campus through mid-September.

Neighbor Coffee & Friends

The coffee trailer currently operates one location at 5000 Burnet Road, Austin but has announced it will be expanding with an additional location. Community members can look forward to whole bean coffee, classic coffee drinks and specialty drinks including a Spiced Cookie Latte and a Bourbon Caramel Latte.

Neon Belly Coffee

Owner Kathleen Wainwright says the entire coffee house is designed to literally glow, creating a vibrant space that will light up North Austin’s coffee scene when the location opens in mid- to late-September. Nestled in the Burnet Road neighborhood, the cafe will feature locally roasted coffee, a full matcha bar, bite-sized pastries and gelato.

Peaches Coffee

As locals to the area, the business’ owners were inspired to open a location in a West Austin neighborhood, co-owner Molly Gaffney said. The business currently offers a range of coffee drinks and small bites including breakfast tacos and gluten free pastries provided by Maaribu.

Talisman Coffee

The business is operated by co-founder and roaster Fernando Alvarado, co-founder Johanna Alvarado Barker and farmers Yuri and Johanna Alvarado. While the coffee trailer presents classic options from lattes and americanos to cold brew and matcha, customers can also try out its specialty drinks including the seasonal PB & Strawberry Jelly Latte and Matcha-Loops, an off-the-menu drink with a flavor profile similar to Fruity Loops milk.

TropiCafé

The coffee truck draws from owners, Ray Rivera and his wife, Moni’s, Puerto Rican and Mexican backgrounds. The truck features signature creations including a Guava Pie Latte, a Piña Colada Latte and Banana Cream Matcha as well as cold brews, lattes, matcha, cappuccinos and americanos.

Starbucks

The coffee chain offers a variety of espresso drinks, blended coffees, teas and baked goods.

Trianon Coffee

Led by Buda resident Tim Dowling, the project will potentially break ground later this year and include about 65,000 square feet of retail space, according to previous Community Impact reporting. Trianon’s offerings include a variety of organic, microlot, single-origin, specialty blends and decaf coffee.

Cedar Park

Arwa Yemeni Coffee

The business serves Yemeni coffee, teas and pastries. Menu items include classic espresso-based beverages, including lattes, as well as traditional drinks like Sana'ani coffee and Adeni tea. Ice refreshers and smoothies are also available.

Coffeyeh Coffee Shop

Owned by Ziad Bader and Kareem Soufan, the business has espresso-based drinks, including regular coffee shop offerings like lattes, and Coffeyeh’s signature syrup has traditional Palestinian ingredients in it. Additionally, the shop's bean blend includes beans from farms in Ethiopia, Guatemala, Brazil and Indonesia.

Georgetown

Barking Armadillo Brewing

Officials with Barking Armadillo Brewing opened a coffee shop inside the Georgetown brewery June 24. The coffee shop is open seven days a week starting at 7 a.m., Community Impact previously reported.

Rabbit Coffee Co.

Rabbit Coffee Co. has moved into House of Gainz in Georgetown. The business previously operated a coffee truck—which sells drip coffee, lattes, tea, cold brew, matcha and baked goods—outside of the gym.

Red Horn Coffee & Taproom

The business, which started in Cedar Park a decade ago, sells coffee, beer, food and more. The Georgetown location replaced Black Sugar Caffé on the square and marks the company’s third brick-and-mortar location.

7 Brew

The business sells a range of hot and iced coffee drinks, teas, smoothies, milkshakes and energy drinks, including signature beverages such as the Bahama Mama 7 Fizz Soda and the Snickerdoodle Frozen Mocha Chiller.

Summer Moon Coffee

The Leander location will be the sixth Summer Moon shop for owner Jenna Findlay and her husband, Randy, who bought their first shop in Austin in 2015. In addition to a range of hot and cold drinks, Summer Moon offers a range of food and treats sourced from local vendors, including sandwiches, tacos and vegan pastries.

Pflugerville

Black Rock Coffee Bar

The coffee shop has nearby locations in Hutto, Round Rock, Cedar Park and Austin. The Pflugerville store is drive-thru only, and will be built near the intersection of Colorado Sands Drive and Copper Mine Drive on a previously undeveloped site, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

Round Rock

Instill Coffee Co.

Owned by Michelle and Ryan Bell, the shop sells coffee, cold brew, matcha and avocado toasts. The coffee shop’s first location is in Cedar Park. Customers can order a variety of coffee options including a smoked, house-made vanilla coffee; a 20-hour cold brew; and a chocolate banana coffee with house-made banana syrup.
