The Lost Well has found a new home on Airport Boulevard in East Austin, after months of closure.

Some context

Billed as “the friendliest bar you’ve ever been too scared to walk into,” the iconic rock ’n’ roll, punk and metal venue closed last October after 11 years in business off Webberville Road. The shutdown came after the landlord chose not to renew the lease as the property was being sold, according to an employee’s social media post.

The new spot takes over what was formerly the restaurant Tropicana Bar & Grill, previously run by the Figueroa family.

“Immense gratitude for the Figueroa family for sharing their home with us. When we first saw this space, we knew it was meant to be,” the company wrote on social media.

On the horizon

The Lost Well held its “rough launch” on Aug. 16 and will host its first show on Aug. 23, featuring bands Mean Mistreater, Leather Church and Tiny.

“Our open sign is ON,” the company announced online.
