Neon Belly isn’t just the name—it’s a promise. Owner Kathleen Wainwright says the entire coffee house is designed to literally glow, creating a vibrant space that will light up North Austin’s coffee scene when the location opens in mid- to late-September.

“There are little pieces of us throughout the space to reflect culturally and authentically who we are,” Wainwright said.

The details

Together with her husband, Tony Latto, Wainwright developed the concept for Neon Belly, inspired by the couple's love of the jujitsu, yoga and running scenes in the city.

Nestled in the Burnet Road neighborhood, the cafe will feature locally roasted coffee, a full matcha bar, bite-sized pastries and gelato.

“Coffee in the front, bakery in the back,” Wainwright said.

The space also features a distinctive lighting system and will be available for private rentals, hosting everything from gender reveal parties and book clubs to watch parties and more.

Quote of note

When asked about the name of the new coffee concept, Wainwright said, “If you know, you know. It’s one of those things you just have to come in and figure out for yourself.”
