Honest Mary’s, a clean-eating, build-your-own-bowl-style restaurant will open in the Mueller neighborhood later this summer.

Husband and wife Nelson and Mary Monteith opened the first Honest Mary’s location in the Arboretum neighborhood in 2017. Since then, the business has expanded to Cedar Park and the Rosedale neighborhood.

Nelson Monteith said they founded Honest Mary’s to offer a healthy fast food place with substantial offerings like roasted vegetables, cooked meats and fresh produce.

“So from the food that we serve to the service and hospitality we give to the spaces and just ambiance, we see those three areas as areas where we can be life-giving, which is a little bit counterintuitive to traditional, fast food,” he said.

With every new location they open, Nelson said they try to design and build it to fit the neighborhood. The new restaurant will have a Mueller-inspired painting by local artist Tyler Guinn and a children’s playscape.

“Coming to Mueller, our hope is just to serve people really well, serve our guests really well, serve families ... and just to provide a consistent ‘fast if you want it to be but also you can come stay’ and healthy food [option],” he said.

Nelson said they are planning a grand opening party on Sept. 8 to coincide with the Texas Farmer’s Market at Mueller that day.

Honest Mary's also offers takeout, catering and vegan options.
