Due to financial constraints, Lone Star Circle of Care laid off 65 employees on May 1 and 2.
The layoffs were focused primarily on administration—areas such as its finance and building, human resources, communications, and legal departments—in order to preserve resources for its clinic services, said Jen Barrera, executive vice president of corporate services.
Barrera said "no one event" contributed to the organization's financial situation and that the layoffs should have no impact on its clinical operations.
Lone Star Circle of Care would not elaborate on the possibility of future layoffs, only saying that any personnel decisions would be made in the service of preserving its health care offerings.
