The Round Rock ISD board of trustees selected Paul Tisch on May 21 as the Place 6 trustee to replace Glen Colby, who served on the board for five years.

Tisch has been a resident of Round Rock ISD for 12 years and is a member of the Brushy Creek Municipal Utility District board of directors and served as its president from 2007–09. Tisch is employed by Garratt-Callahan Co., an industrial water treatment chemical company.

The board selected Tisch after interviewing five candidates May 20 and canceled its second round of interviews scheduled for May 22. Tisch said that he applied for the Place 6 position because he wants to serve the district and its students. Colby resigned on April 5 and cited time demands of board service as his reason for stepping down.

"I've always felt that being involved in your community is an important part of any individual," Tisch said. "I've always been active in my community, but when the seat came open, I just felt called to apply for that position."

Tisch will be sworn into office June 4. His term will expire in November 2014.
