Magnolia eatery sees waves of customers

Nestled into the forest and tucked away from FM 1488 traffic sits Family Tree Recipes. Owners Terry and Brent Scott pride themselves in serving hot and fresh homestyle food.

After opening in April 2012, the couple has seen their business thrive. Word-of-mouth recommendations to locals has brought the community into the homey diner, Terry said, continuing to bring crowds. Although expansion is inevitable, she said, they do not want to get too big.

"We just love our customers," Terry said. "The customers really make the place, and we want to make sure we take care of the customer base we have established."

Designed and built by Brent, the restaurant seats about 50 customers inside and in late January a newly-expanded patio will accommodate 40 to 50 additional guests.

Customer favorites include the classic hamburger ($7.50) and chicken salad sandwich ($8.95).

New this year is Family Tree Recipe's 77354 Burger—the challenge burger—where customers can tackle the 6 pound meal including 2.5 pounds of beef, .5 pounds of cheese, .5 pounds of grilled onions and 1 pound of bacon. Guests can also purchase Brent's homemade bread.
