Completion is near for NB Housing Partners First Footing community center project.

According to a press release, NB Housing Partners is optimistic that it will move into the facility in January.

The nonprofit organization’s new facility is located at a renovated former fire station at Loop 337, which will act as a crisis housing and outreach center. The center will have a comprehensive intake process and work to connect individuals to community resources and housing opportunities, according to a press release.

How we got here

NB Housing partners entered into a 25-year agreement with the city of New Braunfels back in 2022 to lease the former fire station.

The details

According to a press release, The Salvation Army of New Braunfels will be providing meals at the new facility with support from New Braunfels Church of Christ, Elks Lodge, New Braunfels Food Bank, SOS Food Bank New Braunfels and Peace Lutheran Church.

The First Footing community center will also feature a medical room used for wellness checkups and health care visits. Health care will be provided weekly through Acadia Medical Mission. Volunteers in Medicine, America’s Best Eyecare and local dentists will also offer offsite appointments.

There will also be a congregate sleeping space that can serve up to 40 individuals. The new facility also has a bathroom/shower area, television, computer and laundry room.
