On June 14, New Braunfels Utilities staff will hold a public meeting to discuss local water supplies, according to a press release.

NBU CEO Ian Taylor will host the meeting beginning at 6 p.m. at the New Braunfels Civic and Convention Center, located at 375 S. Castell Ave.

The primary focus of the meeting will be to discuss the utility company’s water resources, according to the release, as well as long-term water resource planning.

According to NBU officials, the company had access to 26,682 acre-feet of water per year and has increased its capacity to 50,375 acre-feet per year, representing an 88% increase in four years.
The Canyon Reservoir, Edwards Aquifer and the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority Mid-Basin make up the largest shares of deliverable water supply, according to NBU documents.

Additional NBU experts will be available before the meeting from 5-6 p.m., according to the release, to discuss topics, including water and electric rebates, the Headwaters at the Comal, backflow prevention and more.
