Check out some key dates for LHISD students:
  • Sept. 1: first student holiday
  • Nov. 24-28: Thanksgiving break
  • Dec. 22-Jan. 2: winter break
  • March 16-20: spring break
  • May 21: last day of school
In case you missed it

LHISD adopted a hybrid calendar featuring many four-day school weeks with Fridays off for students. The calendar is intended to allow teachers more time for planning and professional development, LHISD officials said.

“We really appreciate the support of the innovative calendar to be able to give that much time back to our teachers,” interim Superintendent Travis Motal said at an April 21 board meeting.


The district’s 2025-26 calendar will align with the following structure:
  • Aug. 12-Sept. 12: five-day school weeks
  • Sept. 15-Nov. 21: four-day school weeks
  • Dec. 1-Dec.19: five-day school weeks
  • Jan. 5-April 3: four-day school weeks
  • April 6-May 1: five-day school weeks
  • May 4-21: four-day school weeks
LHISD is providing free Panther Care for employees on Fridays. Families can sign up for child care through the YMCA.
