“We like to have a good time,” Sandra Lott said. “But I'm not trying to go party on 6th Street with the youngsters. I'm like, ‘Where can I hang out that has clean music that I can bring my 16-year-old?’”
On the menu
The restaurant serves chicken wings with an array of sauces, called Bird Baths, to toss them in. Side items include fried pickles, fried cauliflower bites and the Clucked Up Fries, or chili cheese fries with the option to add chopped chicken tenders on top. The most popular wing flavors include the Cajun and the hot honey Cheeto dry rubs, said general manager Cliff Lott.
All of the recipes are made from scratch and developed by their son, Rycherd Lott, who visits Leander once a month to develop new flavors. Everything is made to order in-house and is never frozen, Sandra Lott said.
The restaurant also sells alcoholic and nonalcoholic daiquiris for the whole family to enjoy. Thirsty Chicken serves a variety of cereal-flavored daiquiris, wine daiquiris and a build-your-own option.
“We're really big on offering a place for families to come and hang out and have something for everybody,” Sandra Lott said.
Dig Deeper
To celebrate their fifth anniversary next year, they hope to expand the business with a second location, Sandra Lott said. One of the limitations of the current location is that the kitchen can only house three fryers, she said, which can make wait times longer for customers.
The owners are eyeing Pflugerville as the next location due to its proximity to Austin and more affordable prices. Eventually, they would like to have a location for all six kids in their family and later open it up for franchising.
