Here are four local transportation updates to know in November for the Lake Travis and Westlake areas.

Ongoing projects

1. Traffic control devices on RM 620 from Foundation Road to Hudson Bend Road

The project from the Texas Department of Transportation includes traffic cameras, dynamic message signs and underground communications cabling along RM 620 between Hudson Bend Road and Foundation Road.
  • Update: The project is nearing completion.
  • Timeline: estimated for fall completion
  • Cost: $6.5 million
  • Funding: state and federal funding
2. Loop 360’s Westlake Drive/Cedar Street project

The project from TxDOT aims to increase safety and mobility on Loop 360 for the Westlake Drive and Cedar Street intersections. It will create an underpass at both locations where Loop 360 goes under the cross street, U-turns at Westlake Drive, shared-use paths and sidewalks.
  • Update: The Westlake Drive bridge opened Aug. 1. Cedar Street bridge construction is underway, and the bridge is expected to open by the end of 2025.
  • Timeline: slated for mid-2026 completion
  • Cost: $72.1 million

3. Hwy. 71 traffic control devices


Project: The project will upgrade traffic control devices along Hwy. 71 from RM 620 to Silvermine Drive.
  • Update: Crews are completing fiber optic cable installs and working on remaining signals.
  • Timeline: estimated completion in early 2026
  • Cost: $5.2 million

4. Pavement overlay on Bee Caves Road

The TxDOT project on Bee Caves Road provided pavement overlay for the section between Hwy. 71 and Redbud Trail, which is used to restore the surface of the road.
  • Update: The project was completed this fall.
  • Timeline: completed in September
  • Funding: state funding
