Baylor Scott & White Health expanded the NeuroHealth Institute into Lakeway, giving Central Texas comprehensive neurological care for brain and spinal cord conditions.
The NeuroHealth Institute launched in 2021, and patients can visit providers at BSW facilities throughout Central Texas. The largest concentration of NeuroHealth providers are at BSW’s medical centers in Round Rock and at Baylor Scott & White-Lakeway, located at 100 Medical Parkway, Lakeway.
Services include care for strokes, aneurysms, scoliosis, back pain and spine diseases.
This center, which includes 37 providers, offers new therapies and imaging, and robotics for brain and spinal procedures. Within the care provided, there are nine subspecialties for minimally invasive procedures and multidisciplinary care.
For Central Texans, Michael Weston, regional director of Neuroscience and Pain Management with the hospital system, said this allows patients to get care close to home instead of Houston or San Antonio.
“We know that multidisciplinary care provides higher-quality outcomes. It means less reoperations, less complications and shorter length of stay for people who seek their care with us. ... So what that means is, these doctors have committed to being a part of this institute,” Weston said.
Weston said the integration of the hospital system’s medical records makes it easy for a patient’s medical team to consult with one another on a treatment plan.
He also said patients do not need a referral to use the services of the NeuroHealth Institute.

For neurosurgeon Dr. James Waldron, the patients he sees have already been approved for surgery by a collaborating physician.
“The appropriate patients will make their way to us having already had the appropriate workup. And then the process is much more efficient for the patient,” Waldron said.
He said Baylor Scott & White has academic medical centers that allow for residents and fellows to train at various BSW facilities in Central Texas to create a systemwide approach to the way they treat patients.
