The city of Rollingwood has passed its budget and decreased tax rate of $0.202039 for fiscal year 2025-26.

On Sept. 17, the city adopted the voter approval tax rate of $0.202039, which is a 1.8% decrease from last year’s rate of $0.2058.
The average home’s taxable value in Rollingwood is $2.42 million, according to city documents, meaning that the average tax on a home with the adopted tax rate would be $5,014.22. This marks a $476.87 increase from FY 2024-25.
The city’s budget, including municipal revenues and expenditures, was also approved by city council Sept. 17.
The budget will raise $103,453 more in property tax revenue than last year’s budget, which is a 5.48% increase from last year, according to city documents.
Property tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year is $62,673.
The total revenue brought into the city’s general fund in the FY 25-26 budget is listed at $3.85 million. Expenditures are listed at $4.30 million, leaving a projected shortfall of $450,123.
The details
Looking at revenues for the city’s general fund, the largest of these came from administration in the FY 2025-26 budget–a total of $3.17 million. Administration revenues increased by 7.8% from the FY 2024-25 budget, which showed administration revenues listed at $2.94 million.
In terms of expenditures, the largest sum went to the police department, a total of $2.87 million. This was a 30.8% increase from FY 2024-25, when $1.60 million of general fund departmental expenditures were given to the department.
Some items that raised police department expenditures this year included video cameras and microphones, budgeted for a total of $69,000 compared to last year’s $1,000, computers for $6,000, and new vehicles and outfitting for $301,541.
Miscellaneous expenditures for police also increased by $26,500.

“This is the work that this council and our staff [have] been undertaking for the last several months,” Mayor Gavin Massingill said at the Sept. 17 meeting. “I think we have brought to council a very responsible budget, [and] I think council has fine-tuned that budget in a very responsible manner and we’ve got a really nice budget document in front of us."
