Following Bee Cave Police Chief Brian Jones’ announcement of retirement, the city is set to begin its search for a new chief, according to a Bee Cave news release.
The overview
Jones, whose retirement will go into effect Sept. 12, has served as Bee Cave police chief since August 2021, according to the Sept. 2 release.
The details
Bee Cave City Council will discuss the process for selecting a new police chief at its Sept. 9 council meeting, according to a statement shared by the city with Community Impact.
As the issue relates to city personnel, discussion will take place in executive session.
“A timeline for appointing an interim or permanent replacement has not been determined yet,” the city statement said. “During this period of transition, the Bee Cave Police Department will continue to provide the same high level of service our residents expect.”
What else?
During Jones’ tenure, the department increased DWI enforcement, according to the news release. Additionally, it launched an autonomous drone pilot project and worked to keep Bee Cave’s crime rate low.
“After 29 years in law enforcement, I have decided it’s time to step back and take a break,” Jones said in the news release. “Thank you for the opportunity to lead this department and serve the citizens of Bee Cave. It has been an honor.”
