The city of West Lake Hills has formed a new architecture advisory subcommittee.
The committee, established in an April 9 resolution, will provide guidance and recommendations to the city on architecture and design related to redevelopment and comprehensive planning, according to city documents.
The overview
The committee will consist of five to seven members appointed by the city administrator and approved by City Council. Local architects, community leaders and residents with relevant experience will be included, with each member serving two-year terms.
Some context
The city’s comprehensive planning currently accounts for improved multi-use paths, walkable streets and enhanced commercial design guidelines, according to city documents. The architectural subcommittee will assist with planning efforts, focusing on architectural quality and effective design solutions.
Redevelopment efforts that may fall under the committee’s purview include 911 Westlake Drive—the city’s current municipal complex. With a new municipal complex currently under construction at 4010 Bee Caves Road, the subcommittee may be asked to provide design input on planning for the old complex, according to city documents.
What else?
Other duties of the committee, as listed in the April 9 resolution, will include providing advice on preserving neighborhood character while adhering to residential and commercial code compliance.
Additionally, the committee will receive and consider community feedback on design and architectural concerns, according to city documents.
