On Feb. 19, Lake Travis Fire Rescue, in collaboration with Travis County Commissioner Ann Howard, will host a public town hall meeting to address wildfire risks and mitigation efforts in the Lake Travis region.
Experts and local officials will discuss prevention initiatives and also answer questions from residents during a Q&A section.
The overview
The meeting will be held at Lake Travis Fire Rescue Station 606, located at 17304 Hamilton Pool Road, from 6 to 8 p.m. Topics discussed will include home hardening, emergency preparedness and community wildfire mitigation efforts, Commissioner Howard said in an email.
Howard encouraged all residents of precinct three to attend the meeting, where she will speak. Other speakers will include Dustin Dunn, a wildfire mitigation specialist with Lake Travis Fire Rescue; Jennifer Riechers, general manager of the West Travis County Public Utility Agency; and Jay Alexander, assistant chief of Travis County Parks. Informational booths will also be set up at the meeting for residents to view after discussion concludes.

Wildfires continue to pose a significant threat to Central Texas communities, according to a news release from Howard’s office. The meeting is intended to provide attendees with essential information regarding mitigation strategies and preparedness.
Those interested in attending are not required to RSVP, however RSVPs are appreciated in order to accommodate refreshments for all attendees, according to the news release.
