Check out the latest updates from the Eanes ISD board of trustees meeting Sept. 9.

Share your thoughts on the future superintendent

EISD is in the process of finding a new superintendent following the retirement of Jeff Arnett over the summer, and the board selected JG Consulting to help guide the superintendent search Aug. 5.

An anonymous survey is available here for community members to answer questions and provide input that will shape the leadership profile used to recruit and evaluate candidates, interim superintendent Tom Trigg said.

Additionally, a town hall will be held Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. at the Westlake Community Performing Arts Center for community members to provide further input.

The board anticipates reviewing candidates in October and holding interviews in November, and could name a lone finalist at the Nov. 18 board meeting.

Two new buses will support extracurricular activities

The board approved the purchase of two additional buses to support transportation for extracurricular activities.

Sailors said the increased number of students participating in activities is outpacing the number of bus routes, and more buses are needed.

“We’re using alternate drivers from other departments so that they can not take away from the actual transportation routes,” Sailors said.

The $310,344 purchase will be funded through the 2023 bond.

Contract amendments made for Barton Creek portables, Valley View blend

The board approved two contract amendments related to the Barton Creek Elementary portable project and Barton Creek and Valley View Elementary blend.

Per agenda documents, the portable project required additional architectural services by LPA, Inc. in the amount of $67,222, which caused the contract to exceed its original $150,000 threshold. The total amount of the contract is now $179,042.

LPA, Inc. is the vendor used to design and place the portables used for the Early Education Program at BCE, said Kristy Sailors, assistant superintendent of operations and technology. The contract includes the zoning, permits and other requirements for the portables.

“This document is an addition to the original contract for the amount of work that they had to do in such a short period of time to make sure that those buildings were ready for students,” Sailors said.

The work has already been completed, Sailors said, but the amendment was not brought forward to the board until now as there was not a July board meeting to do so. The overage will come out of the 2023 bond.

Similarly, the contract for project management support services for the BCE and VVE blend exceeded its original $150,000 threshold. The approved amendment allows additional reimbursable expenses not to exceed $20,000 to Square One Consultants, Inc., and the total amount of the contract is now $168,953.
