Something to note

Voters approved $22.3 million in the 2023 bond for stadium renovations. The initial project was a general stadium capacity upgrade, a press box replacement and adding extra space for women’s athletic programs, said Chief Financial Officer Pam Sanchez.

“Once the design started [getting] input from several staff and logistics of how movement is around campus and for all the events, it became apparent that we had room to add,” Sanchez said.

Trustee Erin Archer said the GMP is “considerably higher” than the bond amount, but that the district convened a Bond Advisory Committee in the spring consisting of cabinet leadership and community members to look over pricing.

“They also had concerns about the pricing, but after three meetings and long deliberations it was determined by that committee to also recommend to move forward,” Archer said.

Sanchez said staff have been able to find efficiencies in other bond athletic projects in order to cover the stadium renovation costs.
