The Texas Education Agency released its 2022-2023 A-F Accountability ratings on April 24 after a nearly two-year long lawsuit with districts across the state that blocked the ratings from being released.

Eanes ISD overall received an "A" rating, scoring 94 out of 100 possible points.

How it works

The accountability rating system was established during the 2017 legislative session. District and campus ratings are based on State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness scores; graduation rates; and college, career and military readiness outcomes.

The details

Based on the 2022-2023 ratings, all EISD campuses received an "A" rating, with the exception of Valley View Elementary, which received a "B," scoring 89 out of 100 possible points.

How we got here

In August 2023, over 100 school districts sued the agency over concerns with the updated A-F system, and the TEA had been blocked from releasing these ratings since.

EISD did not join the lawsuit, but the districts involved said the revamped rating system made it "mathematically impossible" for schools to receive an "A" rating. A Travis County district judge court blocked the release of the ratings, but on April 3, a state appeals court overturned the injunction and ruled they could be released.

More districts joined a separate lawsuit in August 2024 with the same rating system concerns, and the TEA was blocked from releasing the 2023-2024 ratings. That lawsuit is pending in the state appeals court, according to recent Community Impact reporting.
What's next?

TEA Commissioner Mike Morath said TEA intends to release the 2024-2025 ratings on Aug. 15.
