The big picture
Owner Marissa Mireur said the future store will have grab-and-go counter service, offering breakfast, lunch and dinner take-home meals seven days a week alongside charcuterie boards, desserts, salads, beer and wine. In addition to The Austin Epicure's permanent go-to dinners, there will also be rotating weekly seasonal dishes.
The Austin Epicure will continue to provide options for custom parties and dinners, and Mireur plans on the store being open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. most days, with possibly a later Sunday opening time. Breakfast items will include strata, breakfast sandwiches and coffee, and while there won’t be space for indoor dining, there are plans to provide limited outdoor seating.
How it happened
The company started after a Facebook group Mireur was in wanted to have a one-week bazaar to promote the members' products. This prompted Mireur to create an Instagram for The Austin Epicure, showcasing its:
- Toasted pecan, mini and classic dark rum cakes
- Smoked turkey cheese balls
- Smoked salmon spread
- Salted caramel sauce
- Large and small charcuterie boards
- Marinated burrata
Construction for the storefront is expected to begin in October and Mireur hopes to open in November, she said. While the company is currently run by Mireur and her friend Tiffany Reynolds, Mireur expects to have a team of six to 10 employees by the time they open.
“This spot opened up, and it's the perfect place for us, so it's very exciting,” Mireur said.
What else?
Mireur came to Austin for college but left to live in Alaska for 10 years, where she operated a Tex-Mex restaurant called Sabrosa in Skagway with her husband. She later worked as a private chef in California, then returned to Austin in 2010 and opened The Austin Epicure online in November 2020.
The Austin Epicure is taking over i Fratelli Pizza’s West Lake Hills location that closed earlier this year.
