Windy Point Park on Lake Travis has closed to the public and is considering plans for redevelopment, according to a statement shared by park representatives.

The overview

“[The park] is closing because I want to find a new tenant who will develop the property,” said Bob Barstow, Windy Point Park Inc. president. “The best news would be to have a hotel and marina combination with a new park.”

No developers have yet signed on to the park project, Barstow said July 1.

The details

Located at 6506 Bob Wentz Park Road, 2 miles west of The Oasis on Lake Travis, the park was first created in 1947 and became known as Windy Point Park in 1982, Barstow said.

Windy Point Park’s land contains an easement from a neighboring park, Bob Wentz Park, which is leased to Travis County by the Lower Colorado River Authority.

What’s next?

Ideally, Barstow said that the park’s future development would be jointly coordinated with the LCRA.

“I think the best solution is for LCRA to enter into an agreement with me and we jointly develop the land,” Barstow said.
