Bodie Ostrander said he tries to never have a day go by in which he is not around water. So when he started Austin Boat Concierge in 2011, the company was the perfect combination of business and pleasure for the Austin-area native.

His company caters to and supplies whatever boat and lake house customers may need—including stocking coolers for a day out on the lake, detailing boats, repairing dock lights, providing surfboard and wakeboard rentals, and offering captain’s services if customers do not want to worry about drinking and operating a boat.

Austin Boat Concierge also offers boat detailing and cleaning packages that include an exterior wash, chamois dry, waxing, carpet vacuuming, and vinyl and surface cleaning.

The business serves boats on Lake Austin and southern Lake Travis.

“We’ll take care of your property from the water line on,” Ostrander said. “Anything that pertains to getting you out on the water—we can take care of.”

Ostrander attended Leander High School and lives near Lake Travis and the Oasis, Texas restaurant complex. He said he has lived the lake lifestyle since he was 2 years old.

Before founding Austin Boat Concierge, Ostrander was a first mate on an 82-foot catamaran in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.

Having been a scuba diver for 18 years, he said he has incorporated the activity at Austin Boat Concierge.

“We’ll do salvage operations for boat wreckage or missing jewelry that accidentally gets dropped out in the water,” Ostrander said.

Although Ostrander said he is happy to help boat customers with a-la-carte services as needed, he also offers a membership at Austin Boat Concierge that is more cost-effective for patrons than singular services. The service includes an annual review of a customer’s boat functions and winterization.

Austin Boat Concierge members can log onto the business’s website and request whatever they need for the lake online.

“The idea behind the membership is for me to ensure [customers’] boats are in optimum performance year-round,” Ostrander said. “It’s an easy way for me to come service [boats] since I already have all the past information and payment—I can just come out and take care of it,” he said.

If the local weather is bad, Ostrander said he has the option to haul customers’ boats to the company’s 3,000-square-foot warehouse in Cedar Park. He said he constantly monitors weather conditions and Lower Colorado River Authority alerts so he knows when it is time to take his members’ boats off the water.

“We’re here for our customers, 24/7,” Ostrander said. “Basically if [your requested service involves anything] touching the water, we would be more than willing to help you out.”
