Construction is underway on a sixth Baylor Scott & White Health clinic slated to open this October near Oak Hill.
The 4,200-square-foot clinic, known as Baylor Scott & White Clinic-Austin Southwest, will include eight exam rooms. Four health care providers will offer out-patient services such as family medicine, on-site X-rays and laboratory services, a press release from Baylor Scott & White Health stated.
"We are excited at the opportunity to provide care for residents living in Southwest Austin," said Jay Fox, president of Baylor Scott & White's Austin/Round Rock region. "The new clinic will give this growing community an opportunity to receive primary care closer to where they live and work."
This is the second announcement this year of a Baylor Scott & White facility coming to the Oak Hill area. In March,
Community Impact Newspaper broke the news of the health care giant's plans to break ground on a
50-bed hospital known as the Austin Medical Center at 5423 W. Hwy. 290 in the first quarter of 2018.
"Baylor Scott & White conducted extensive research to evaluate what makes the most sense to best serve the community," Fox said "With the continued population and business growth in this area, the location is highly visible and accessible to where people live and work. Our overarching goal is to provide quality and also conveniently located care when and where it's needed."
Five other Baylor Scott & White clinics can be found across Austin, including one in Circle C. The new Southwest clinic, which aims to serve the residents of Oak Hill and Dripping Springs, will be located at 9521 Hwy. 290, Ste. 150, and will be open Mon.-Fri. 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
