After Superintendent Fred Brent’s retirement announcement in early April, the Georgetown ISD board of trustees appointed Lindsay Harris as interim superintendent on April 11.

Harris, GISD's chief strategist for leadership and culture, recently led the district through adopting a new strategic direction.

“We feel like this is a very important decision, probably one of the most important decisions we’re going to make besides hiring a new superintendent,” Trustee Stephanie Blanck said at the special called meeting. “So this decision was not made lightly, and I just wanted everyone to know that there was very deep, thorough discussion.”

GISD’s next steps are to hire a search firm to assist the board with the process of selecting a new superintendent, according to a release from the district.

Brent will serve in an advisory role to the leadership team and school board through June 30.
