Georgetown ISD Superintendent Fred Brent announced May 12 the district’s plan to host in-person graduations for all three of its high schools.

The ceremonies will be outdoors and held at Birkelbach Field, GISD’s athletic complex.

“We are excited to be able to come together and honor seniors in this way,” Brent said in the announcement.

Due to social distancing guidelines, the number of guests will be limited, and safety measures such as wellness screenings and temperature checks will be in place, Brent said. There will also be a livestreaming of the events for those who cannot attend in person, he said.

The graduation dates are as follows:

  • East View High School: May 30 at 8 p.m.

  • Georgetown High School: May 31 at 8 p.m.

  • Richarte High School: May 29 at 8 p.m.


Brent acknowledged permission from the Texas Education Agency to hold in-person ceremonies is subject to change as underlying public health conditions that impact local and state orders develop.


The district is also hosting a parade through downtown Georgetown for all graduating seniors at 9 a.m. May 29.
