An addition to Ford Elementary School will add the capacity for 150 more students.

The Georgetown ISD board of trustees approved a guaranteed maximum price for the project of $3.18 million July 22.

David Biesheuvel, GISD's executive director of construction and development, said the design includes eight additional classrooms, restrooms and storage for teachers. With the increase in capacity, the student population will be 811, Biesheuvel said.

Construction is expected to begin in September and be completed in July, Biesheuvel said. The project is funded by the 2018 school bond voters approved in November. It comes from the $74 million line item for elementary school development, he said.

Ford Elementary is located at 210 Woodlake Drive, Georgetown.

The board also approved the guaranteed maximum price of $795,336 for the construction of a wrestling room at East View High School.

The addition will be attached to the field house and have direct access to the weight room the team uses, Biesheuvel said.

Construction will take five months to complete and will begin in August and end in January, Biesheuvel said. The project is funded by the 2018 school bond voters approved in November. It comes from the $14.5 million athletic upgrades line item, he said.

East View High is located at 4490 E. University Ave., Georgetown.

The projects are contracted by Braun and Butler Construction.
