Georgetown's Parks and Recreation department will host a family-focused event to celebrate the National Recreation and Park Association's Family Health and Fitness Day, according to a release.

The free event will last from 3-5 p.m., June 11 at the Recreation Center, 1003 N. Austin Ave, Georgetown.

Celebrated annually, NRPA's Family Health and Fitness Day is an opportunity for residents to discover health benefits provided by their local parks and recreation department, according to the city.

Activities include a boot camp demo class, tug-of-war, beach volleyball, a hula hoop contest and an obstacle course. Local health and fitness vendors will also be in attendance.

The Georgetown Parks department is inviting nonprofits, health professionals, service providers and retailers of health and wellness products to participate as a vendor or to sponsor an activity.
