The Georgetown city council approved final plans for the city’s four route transit system, GoGeo, at its May 10 meeting with full details available on the city’s website starting today.

Bus station pad sites are currently under construction and will feature signs made from recycled materials. The system is set to launch in August.

The new system includes both fixed-route and paratransit options and will replace the current demand-response system, which was launched in 2010 and has approximately 2,800 current subscribers.

Riders will be able to purchase a day-use pass for $2 with exact change on the bus or at the Public Library at 402 W. Eighth St, Georgetown. Additional options including monthly passes may be added.

The system was approved as part of the city’s transit development plan at a meeting last September. Last October, Community Impact reported that the city expects ridership to reach 40,000 in the first year.
