2. Georgetown officials consider creation of Woodside active adult community
Developer Blake Magee Company proposed expanding the Woodside Municipal Utility District to include an additional 162.5-acre tract at a May 26 City Council workshop. The request includes annexing the land into city limits to create a new age-restricted residential development.

4. Construction on Austin Avenue bridges in Georgetown to resume
The southbound Austin Avenue bridge decks will be demolished beginning this month in preparation for new bridge construction, according to a May 29 city update.
The bridge demolition will take approximately two months. After the new bridge decks are complete, the contractor will begin working to rehabilitate the northbound lane bridge decks, scheduled for this November.

5. Georgetown veterans to have VA health care closer to home
Veterans Affairs data shows that Williamson County is home to nearly 40,000 veterans, including many who are part of the Veterans Memorial Advisory Group in Georgetown. Despite a growing population, the only Austin-area VA health care clinics are located in Cedar Park and southeast Austin.
To help close this gap, the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System is building a $44.5 million VA outpatient clinic in Round Rock. The 63,808-square-foot facility is expected to open in 2027 and provide primary and preventative care, mental health support, and other specialty services.
In February, U.S. Rep. John Carter, R-Round Rock, also advanced legislation authorizing the construction of a VA outpatient clinic in Georgetown by next year, which could cost upward of $96.4 million.
