Grey Orchard, a new restaurant specializing in modern American cuisine, plans to open in Round Rock later this year.
The restaurant, owned by James Sun, will take over the former space of Denny’s on I-35 in Round Rock. Cole Fitzgerald, who earned a Michelin Guide mention in 2023, will lead the kitchen.

4. Texas Roadhouse to open in Leander this November
Steakhouse restaurant Texas Roadhouse is getting ready to open in Leander this fall, a development that will bring upward of 200 jobs to the market.
The nationwide chain, founded in 1993, has more than 700 locations worldwide, and is best known for their steaks, ribs, burgers, fried chicken and made-from-scratch sides.

5. Austin ISD adopts lower tax rate for 2025-26, homeowners could see savings
Austin ISD homeowners may see a decrease in their property tax bill as the district adopted a slightly lower tax rate for fiscal year 2025-26.
The AISD board of trustees approved a tax rate of $0.9252 per $100 valuation at a Sept. 25 meeting. Additionally, the board voted to continue offering a partial tax exemption for historical landmarks.
