In celebration of its 25th anniversary this fall, Senior University changed its name to Lifelong Learners GTX.

Executive Director Ron Snell said in a Nov. 26 press release the change is intended to more clearly capture the mission of the organization.

“We want it to be immediately apparent that we welcome lifelong learners of all ages and that these are not the kind of university classes requiring papers, homework, exams and strict class attendance,” Snell said in the release. “Instead, we are a community of curious minds looking for opportunities to expand our worlds."

The organization has offered more than 1,500 courses to hundreds of residents since its inception. Membership is $50 annually, and there are separate registration fees for each term.

The winter 2024 semester begins Jan. 22 and will include classes on African art, global warming, the muckrakers and the golden age of journalism, issues facing China, and Broadway musicals, among others.
