600 Degrees Pizzeria and Drafthouse was named the winner of the best downtown business in a city with more than 50,000 people by the
Texas Downtown Association Presidents Award Program.
Located just off the Square, 600 Degrees and the other finalist in the category,
Patina Green Home and Market in McKinney, were selected Sept. 16 for the award that was announced Nov. 9 at the Presidents Award Gala in Killeen.
According to a news release from the city, the judges were impressed by 600 Degrees' support of downtown activities and local charities as well as its contribution to nightlife and downtown pedestrian traffic.
The Texas Downtown Association has recognized more than 150 projects, events, places and people that make a difference in Texas downtowns.
Other categories awarded include best new construction, best public improvement and the spirit of downtown award. Each of the categories is broken into two population sections— less than and more than 50,000 residents.
The association is a nonprofit started in 1985 to help downtown and commercial revitalization projects as well as to provide resources to communities.
