Chef and General Manager Sami Alasi opened Greek-American fusion restaurant 183 Grill Austin on Aug. 1. Not only has his customer base grown because he cooks each item fresh, but the menu is also Halal, which he said attracts a wide range of customers, not just Muslims. The eatery specializes in Mediterranean appetizers, salads, homemade burgers, gyros and hibiscus tea. Alasi has been in the restaurant industry for 15 years. Most recently he operated Pita House on West Parmer Lane, which he said he sold in October 2014. After some time off, Alasi said he is back in the restaurant business. “I wanted a diversified menu this time, and a better location,” he said. 183 Grill Austin is nestled in a shopping center near businesses and residential neighborhoods, and meals range from $7-$10.
