The city of Buda has hired a new assistant city manager to start early next year, city officials announced today.

Micah Grau will begin his tenure in the role in early January, according to a news release.

“Micah is one of the bright young minds in the city management profession,” Buda City Manager Kenneth Williams said in the release. “His years of experience in serving as an assistant city manager and interim city manager in the Austin [and] San Marcos metro area are invaluable.”

Grau previously served as Hutto’s assistant city manager and interim city manager before he was hired by Buda. He helped manage Hutto’s growth by administering city finances, overseeing construction of major capital projects and by helping kick-start Hutto’s redevelopment downtown. Grau said his experience with growth in Hutto will help him in Buda.

Grau and his family are excited to join the Buda community, he said in a release.

"Buda has done a great job of honoring the community's heritage and maintaining the small-town feel and charm that makes Buda unique while balancing the tremendous growth it has faced,” Grau said. “I look forward to getting to know the community and working with the tremendous council and staff in Buda."

Grau holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Texas A&M University and a Masters of Public Administration from Texas State University.
