Three consecutive nights of insecticide spraying for mosquitoes begins in Hutto tonight after 9 p.m.
Although the mosquito control product poses no significant health risk, homeowners are asked to stay inside with their pets during spraying.
The city of Hutto is spraying because two samples of mosquitoes tested positive for West Nile virus. Collections in the Hutto Parke subdivision and Creekside Park had positive results. No human cases have been reported in Hutto.
Hutto participates in the Williamson County and Cities Health District’s mosquito management program. The samples, according to a release from the city, were taken on Nov. 1 and lab results from the Texas Department of State Health Services in Austin were reported to the city Nov. 7.
Residents are asked to report locations of stagnant water on public or private property to the code enforcement division at codeenforcement@
huttotx.gov.
