Lloyd Doggett won the Democratic primary election for U.S. District 37. Republicans Jenny Garcia Sharon and Rod Lingsch will face a runoff after securing 46.79% and 27.78% of the votes respectively.

Early results for the March 1 March primary election show Lloyd Doggett leading the Democratic primary election for U.S. District 37 with 83.38% of the votes.


Results show two of the 173 Travis County and Williamson County precincts reporting.

Doggett is the current U.S. representative for District 35. However, he is running for the 37th district, a Central Texas district that runs along I-35, which was formed during the most recent state redistricting process.

Candidates Donna Imam, Chris Jones and Quinton Beaubouef are also running for the seat with 14.13%, 1.7% and 0.79% of the current vote total, respectively.

Jenny Garcia Sharon is leading the Republican Primary for the same seat with 4,314 votes, or 46.43%. Rod Lingsch and Jeremiah Diacogiannis have 29.54% and 24.14% of the vote total, respectively.


If no candidate reaches 50%, the vote will go to a runoff.
