A new wine bar, restaurant and retail space called Underdog will open in the Bouldin Creek neighborhood this spring.

What’s on the menu?

Underdog’s food menu will feature Korean dishes that pair well with wine, including a Korean version of fried chicken, handmade noodles with sea urchin and mentaiko—a salted and cured fish roe—and a crispy potato and leek pancake. The retail section will offer bottles of wine, caviar and other specialty items.

Meet the owners

Underdog is led by partners Claudia Lee and Richard Hargreave, who previously worked with Chef David Chang—founder of the restaurant group Momofuku—to open restaurants in Sydney, New York, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Lee brings years of event planning and marketing experience to the restaurant, previously working for FOX Entertainment Group and Pernod Ricard USA.

“With Underdog, we wanted to create a relaxed environment where our neighbors can get an impromptu happy hour with friends then find themselves staying for a full course dinner or circling back for a nightcap glass of wine,” Lee said in a press release.

Business information

Underdog will be open Sunday-Thursday from 4-11 p.m., and Friday-Saturday from 4 p.m.-midnight. The retail section will be open daily from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

Underdog is located at 1600 S. First St., Austin. www.underdog-atx.com
