What We Reported
In December, City Council voted unanimously to name Spencer Cronk, a city coordinator in Minneapolis, as its choice for city manager.
The December decision initiated contract negotiations with Cronk, finalization of which relies on City Council approval. According to a city spokesperson, the city manager’s salary will range between $350,000 and $400,000. Cronk told Community Impact Newspaper that should everything go as planned, he expects to start by Feb. 12.
The city placed a hold on several executive hires in anticipation of a permanent city manager. This resulted in a long list of vacancies, namely the chief of police. Cronk told Community Impact Newspaper that because there have been “incredibly talented staff who kept the train running,” he intends to take his time in making the right choice for each position.
