Candidates for Leander City Council submitted their 8-day campaign finance reports April 23. Reports publicly share campaign donations, expenditures, total balance and loan information as reported by candidates.

Eight-day reports are the final finance reports before the May 1 election. These reports include activity from March 23-April 21, according to the state.

Mayor candidates

Troy Hill, who is running for reelection, reported the highest campaign balance with more than $20,000 on hand. He also received the most contributions and spent the most, according to his report.

Most of Hill's latest donors were from out of the city. Eight of 21 donors to Hill's campaign had Leander addresses. Hill's top donor in the latest filing was San Antonio-based Hero Way Properties company, which donated $4,000.


Christine Sederquist reported $7,826.47 in contributions, $7,265.33 in expenses and the second-highest on-hand amount with $5,243.42.

For Sederquist's campaign, 61 of 64 donors to the campaign had Leander addresses. Sederquist's top donor in the latest filing was Leander resident Dianna Schisser, who donated $1,038.73, according to the report.

Place 2 candidates

Place 2 incumbent Annette Sponseller reported the lowest on-hand balance of all Leander candidates with $464.47. Sponseller raised $1,879.63 and spent $2,184.56. 9 of 12 donors were from Leander.


Candidate Esmeralda Traube raised $1,508.27 and spent $3,269.22. Traube has an on-hand balance of $4,407.68. Nine of 15 donors were from Leander.

Candidate Mike Sanders raised $1,135.00 and spent $1,332.22, according to the report. Sanders has $2,225.28 on hand and also has an outstanding loan of $3,064.74. Seven of Sanders' nine donors are from Leander.

Place 4 candidates

Place 4 candidate Donnie Mahan raised $3,460 and spent $2,771.55, according to the report. Mahan has an on-hand balance of $1,639.99 and an outstanding loan total of $200. Four of Mahan's five donors were from Leander.


Candidate Nacole Thompson raised $1,355 and spent $1,064.92 with an on-hand balance of $2,177.13. Thompson reported the least expenses of all candidates, according to her report. 13 of Thompson's 15 donors were from Leander.

Place 6 candidates

Place 6 incumbent Marci Cannon raised $2,850.00 and spent $2,640. Cannon has $3,289.79 campaign balance, according to the report. One of Cannon's seven donors were from Leander.

Candidate Becki Ross raised $3,140 and spent $2,147.15, according to the report. Ross has an outstanding loan of $2,300 and $2,221.57 on hand. 26 of 29 donors were from Leander.
