Wendy Sturdevant, Vandegrift High School associate principal, has been hired as the new principal at Canyon Ridge Middle School in Leander ISD.

A bachelor’s and master’s degree graduate from Texas Christian University, Sturdevant has been the VHS associate principal for the past three years. Before working at VHS, she was a high school math teacher and department chair at Lake Travis ISD for 13 years. She became an assistant principal and associate principal at Lake Travis High School, her alma mater.

Sturdevant replaces Kimberly Waltmon, who was promoted to LISD’s executive director of special programs earlier this year.

A start date for Sturdevant has not yet been determined, according to the April 23 LISD meeting.

Sturdevant’s new job will keep her in the VHS feeder pattern, as Canyon Ridge and Four Points are the two middle schools that supply students to VHS.
