Residents in both towns can enjoy a car show, a petting zoo for adults and a variety of firework shows for Independence Day celebrations. This list is not comprehensive. Event details are subject to change.

The Diaspora Food Market

Community members can celebrate Juneteenth by tasting a variety of dishes such as jerk spiced ribs, Caribbean house wings, jerk chicken with chef-made fried rice, Cuban sandwiches and more. In addition to food, attendees can look forward to face painting, vendors and entertainment.

Car & Bike Show


Car enthusiasts can take a look at cars and motorcycles showcased at the event where prizes will be awarded. Registered cars will be placed in the front of the church doors and motorcycles will be displayed in the sanctuary.

Princess Party

The event at Volente Beach Resort & Waterpark will allow attendees to dress up as their favorite princess and experience a day of princesses, food and live music by Meg Groves as Princess Ariel. Admission includes waterpark access, a food truck meal, bubble party, limbo and more.

Stories in the Park: Fun with Art


Children ages two to five can listen to stories, sing songs and make art as part of the event featured in the City of Leander’s summer programming.

Pajama Storytime & Stuffy Sleepover

Children and their stuffed animal buddies can listen to stories, sing songs and participate in fun activities. Attendees are encouraged to label their stuffed animals with their owner’s name to make sure they would be returned home safely.

Tiny Tails to You Petting Zoo


The event for ages 18 years and older will feature a range of animals for attendees to pet including bunnies, bearded dragons, hedgehogs, chinchillas and more.

Independence Day Spectacular

Attendees can compete for the blue ribbon in competitions including a homemade apple pie contest and children can enjoy some fun by participating in an obstacle course, riding a train or jumping on a velcro wall. Community members can also look forward to live music and a fireworks show.

Leander Liberty Fest

Families can celebrate the annual holiday with live music by Braedon Barnhill and IMY2, food, inflatable bounce houses and slides and a fireworks display.


Plant Palooza

Plant lovers can meet community members with common interests and show off their favorite plants. Participants will share gardening insights, cuttings and seeds with one another.

African Safari Program

Children can learn about African culture with the immersive experience combining performance art, dress-ups, drumming and dancing.


Greater Austin Comic Con

Adults and kids alike can enjoy this two-day event with pop culture vendors, gaming competitions, cosplay contacts and a superhero-themed car show. Attendees can meet special guests including move and TV stars, sports stars, cosplay artists, game developers and more.
