Ahead of inclement weather, many Central Texas school districts have canceled classes for Jan. 21, including Liberty Hill and Leander ISDs.

Students in both districts were already scheduled to be off on Jan. 20 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The context

Starting Jan. 20, the National Weather Service anticipates a winter storm that could make travel dangerous. The NWS said the I-35 corridor and eastern areas could see up to 2 inches of ice, along with a snow and sleet mixture. The rest of the Central Texas area could see up to a tenth of an inch of ice.

Many local districts have canceled school preemptively for Jan. 21, including;

  • Eanes ISD
  • Georgetown ISD
  • Round Rock ISD
  • Pflugerville ISD
  • Hutto ISD
  • Hays ISD
