Looking back
The pair met while working at high-end restaurants in New York, such as Majorelle, Le Grenouille and Caviar Russe. After a decade there, they decided to move to Texas—Lee’s home state—to settle down and start their own culinary venture.
What’s special about it?
Fez began as a pop-up spot during their free time at The Good Lot, a beer garden and food truck lot.
“We started to get a great response from people and gaining traction,” Fortuna said. “Fortunately, The Good Lot took notice of us and offered us a permanent spot.”
What’s on the menu?
Specializing in Mediterranean-inspired dishes, their bestsellers are the skewer plates—which come with either lamb and beef kefta or marinated chicken thighs—and the wraps—which come with either lamb and beef, falafel or chicken. Fortuna said the Muhammara dip with pita bread and double-fried honey harissa chicken wings are must-tries, though.
Trying new food can be challenging for some, but Fortuna said they love to show people how delicious the flavors they offer can be.
“Opening our own place was a hurtle, but having a place where we can create whatever we want, be able to work together, create an amazing team that is like our family, and be able to be a part of the community where we have patrons that we look forward to seeing every week is priceless,” Fortuna said.
