The $4.07 million project is expected to take about six months, according to agenda documents. It will include an extensive remodel of the old Cedar Park Public Library facility to create space for mixed programming.
The gist
“The focus here with the RE|CREATE Project is really on programming, being able to add a facility that we can utilize for multigenerational programs throughout our parks and rec offerings,” Director of Parks and Recreation Mike DeVito said at the meeting.
“We really hope that this facility is going to be able to provide programs that reach across different age groups as well as different types of programming in terms of arts and theater,” he said.
Additionally, DeVito said his team hopes to test new programming at the space.

As part of the renovations, three large classrooms that will serve as multipurpose rooms will be added to the facility, according to the documents. Additionally, two smaller multipurpose rooms, a theater that can be used as a multipurpose room, a large indoor children’s play area and more will be added.
“We want to be able to add as many types of programs as we can, so we’ll be as flexible as possible,” DeVito said.
The project will also update HVAC equipment, lighting fixtures and aesthetic components.
