The local impact
The brand, founded by Shayda Torabi Howell and her husband Sage, was created to bring fresh, local products to the community. All beef products are sourced from Keith Cattle Co. in Lincoln, Texas, which is owned and operated by Howell’s family. The full spectrum of beef production happens within a 60-mile radius of Cedar Park, Howell said.
“That is kind of that foundation for us,” Howell said. “We see an opportunity to bring our consumers closer to where their food comes from.”
What they offer
Currently, Howell sells tallow skin care products online, with three mainstay products for the whole family: baby’s whip, mama’s whip and papa’s whip. She started selling tallow skincare products to minimize waste, using the leftover animal products as a cow is processed, Howell said. She hopes to expand to sell more tallow-based products like chapstick in the future.
“We want to make sure that we're utilizing the [whole] animal and honoring it in that way,” Howell said.
Fun for the family
As a first-time mom, Howell is also focused on hosting events at their new location, where babies and parents can connect. She has previously hosted Cedar Park mom walks, a baby-wearing class and a mommy-and-me barre class.
“What you put in your body is really important, but how you take care of your body is also really important and so movement is a huge component of Mother Acres as well,” Howell said.
In the future, she plans to continue hosting events in Cedar Park, serving Mother Acres products like smashburgers to attendees.
