The Sensory Club will open to Austin-area residents with disabilities and their families this fall in Cedar Park.

The big picture

The membership-based club is intended to provide people with disabilities a safe and inclusive space to explore their sensory health needs through an open gym and multi-sensory environment room.

The all-ages gym will offer occupational therapy equipment, including climbing structures, swings, a zip line, trampoline and ball pit.

The multi-sensory environment room will allow members to enjoy controlled stimulation through music, fiber optics, lights, an interactive touch panel and projected images. The private and customizable experience aims to support memory care and facilitate regulation for each member.

The Sensory Club Austin members will also be able to access a flex room for private parties or events. The club will encourage parents and caregivers to guide their children through various activities at the club.

Memberships will range from $49 a month for individuals and $89 a month for families while some memberships may be subsidized through county or state funding.

The background

Austin franchise owners Azza Hassan and Husam Mahjoub wanted to bring The Sensory Club to the area after struggling to find an inclusive play environment for their son who has a disability, Hassan said.

The Sensory Club has locations in Wisconsin and Colorado.
