Superhero and gaming fans will have a new local resource when Adventures in Ink opens in Leander this January.
The store is owned by Eli Roberts, a lifelong comic book fan and former middle school teacher who has used comics as a classroom tool.
“I had students who were struggling to read and weren’t really connecting with [other reading material],” Roberts said. “I would use comics to help kids get into reading, and they would graduate to prose novels once they realized how fun it could be.”
Roberts said he envisions Adventures in Ink as a hang-out spot where fans can build community. In addition to comics, graphic novels, figurines, toys and clothing, the store will have space for a variety of tabletop gaming, including Magic the Gathering, Pokemon and Dungeons & Dragons.
The store will also offer a suite of board games that can either be purchased or played in-store with friends.
Roberts said he hopes to open the store in mid-January 2025.
